THE MAIN DATES
Since 1862, no fewer than 6 generations have been passing over their ancestral know how, without
ignoring the innovations of their time.
Thus Anne-Laure's grandmother Lucette must have been the first woman to ride a high clearance
straddler in the 1960ies.
Anne-Laure Beerens’s father has constantly developed the estate since he started marketing his
Champagne cuvées. That is how he gave birth to the ALBERT BEERENS brand as a grateful tribute to
the House values.
He was considered as a forerunner when he acquired the first horizontal winepress in the Aube
department in the 1980ies. His search for technicity resulted in a new production site on the estate in
2013. His daughter Anne-Laure gave him that boost as a first step towards other appealing,
courageous challenges.
The Estate has been Terra Vitis labelled since 2013.
THE GREAT TURNING POINT
2021 was the starting year of the conversion to ORGANIC AGRICULTURE of our whole vineyard
spreading over 7 hectares!
To ensure a successful process, Anne-Laure Beerens was trained in using essential oils, electro
culture and healthy culture, which was a real challenge.
In a time of major climate change, unsettled weather conditions require immediate reactions.
Diseases such as downy mildew make it necessary for us to adapt our cultivation practices so that
the plant can get strength and gradually develop its own immunity.
This process requires :
- As many preventive holistic treatments (on the plant but also on the soil to improve it) as well
as developing biodiversity around the vineyards
- as punctual curative treatments on some spots to satisfy the plant’s needs and avoid a spread
of the disease.
THE NUMEROUS ISSUES AT STAKE
- The most important one is developing the biotope.
- The answers, whether preventive or curative, differ and require specific expertise.
- Observing the vine and listening to it makes a close dialogue with the plant possible; as a
consequence its needs are better identified all through its cycle, all the more as climate
variations get in intensity year-on-year.
Our philosophy consists in respecting the soils thanks to soft fertilizing practices, in order to
bequeath living land at all levels. This fertile soil, feeding the vine, will produce vibrant fruit full of
qualities and subtle fragrances.
Anne-Laure Beerens, who enhances this magic, manages to produce complex vintages with
generous, lively flavours that are the expression of ... an original, living and healthy wine.
